It is especially suitable for use with all types of twisted-pair cabling, as its interior is designed for the installation of the components typical of this type of cable. Internal components for securing and routing the cables are included as standard.Its versatility allows it to be used as a distribution and splicing cabinet for fiber optic cables. Optionally, it can be equipped for fiber optic splicing and its corresponding connector supports with a capacity of up to 64 FC or SC connectors.
It can be located both indoors and outdoors (IP-54 protection rating). It can also be wall-mounted or pedestal-mounted. In this case, a galvanized metal template, specially designed for placement on a concrete base, is available as an option, resulting in a very robust installation.
URBAN-type distribution cabinets are manufactured from fiberglass-reinforced polyester with a protective surface finish. They are rectangular in shape with an access door hinged on three hinges, allowing for easy disassembly if needed.
The door has two vents to allow external ventilation and prevent condensation. The locking mechanism consists of a triangular key lock with three locking points and a sleeve for a padlock; the main locking elements are made of stainless steel.
The entire enclosure features a foam neoprene gasket around its perimeter to prevent water ingress. The separation between the enclosure and the base is achieved by a diaphragm divided into two halves. This diaphragm has 11 holes protected by flexible rubber cones to allow cable routing.
Inside the enclosure is a mounting plate made of water-resistant MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) where the power strips and cables will be installed. The base extends downward from the enclosure, allowing it to be mounted on a concrete pedestal. Its front panel is accessible via two fork-shaped latches that can be operated from inside the enclosure.
The cabinet complies with UNE 20.324, achieving the following protection levels:
• Ingress of solid objects: level 5
• Ingress of liquids: level 4
• Mechanical resistance: level 9.
All component elements of this cabinet are corrosion-resistant according to ASTM B-287 and ASTM B-456 (service condition SC-3) and self-extinguishing according to UNE 53.315.
