Using a quadrature error correction (QEC) algorithm can be a differentiating factor in extending Nyquist bandwidth in a software-defined MxFE® system. QEC is essential for expanding the capabilities of a 2-channel ADC receiver used in a quadrature sampling system. However, options also exist for using QEC in a more typical time-interleaved configuration. While both methods have distinct advantages, a comparison within this discussion will show that there is often a superior option depending on the application.

Interleaving ADC cores is one option for achieving this capability, but it requires a front-end analog bandwidth of 2 GHz to 18 GHz. Time interleaving is a popular method for doubling the sampling rate. However, there can be trade-offs with the challenge of processing large rates of raw data and the ability to digitally filter within the ADC.

Viavi Solutions Inc. has announced the first solution to address the testing and validation needs of the emerging 1.6Tb/s ecosystem based on 224G SERDES. Until recently, neutrinos were believed to be massless, but the current theory is that they do have mass, albeit a very small one, and that they exist in three different "flavors" that can alternate. Often called ghost particles, they are very difficult to study because they usually pass through most ordinary matter unimpeded and undetected, so specialized detectors must be built to hunt them down. The latest is called JUNO, located 750 meters underground in Jiangmen, China. It was made possible by the collaboration of 17 different countries and 730 scientists working at 74 universities and national laboratories, who joined forces on this €400 million project.

The Rohde & Schwarz R&S TS8991 has achieved CTIA certification for testing the performance of 5G A-GNSS antennas. This milestone makes the R&S TS8991 a certified 5G FR1 A-GNSS over-the-air (OTA) testing solution. Viavi Solutions Inc. (VIAVI) today launched the industry’s first Reduced Capacity Device (RedCap) emulation for 5G network testing, enabling true performance validation for Internet of Things (IoT) and private networks based on a new class of simpler, lower-cost devices, including wearables, industrial wireless sensors, and video surveillance. This solution is based on the TM500 network test platform, used by most network equipment manufacturers for base station performance testing.

This application note describes how sweep polarization-dependent loss (PDL) measurements can be performed using a CTP10 test platform or a CT440-PDL component tester. In the configuration shown in the following figure, the CTP10's IL PDL OPM2 module enables both the generation of the 4 or 6 polarization states (SOPs) required for Mueller analysis in PDL determination and the measurement of the insertion loss (IL) of the device under test (DUT).

To help explain the formation, evolution, and behavior of large-scale structures in the universe, such as galaxies, scientists have predicted the existence of dark matter.
