The SmartCabinet™ ID is now available in North America and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions with multiple rack size and cooling capacity options, including 24U or 42U racks and 3.5 kW or 7.0 kW cooling capacity.

The SmartCabinet™ ID system protects IT equipment from the dirt, dust, and temperature fluctuations typical of warehouses, factories, and other common edge locations. It also features an IP54 water resistance rating, providing protection in the event of fire sprinkler activation. Integrated emergency fans provide backup cooling in case of power outages or failure of the main cooling module. An integrated touchscreen with communication capabilities enables local or remote monitoring and control of key components. Alarms and notifications can be configured to alert local or remote users when environmental conditions fall outside specified limits. Optional electronic locks can be installed on the front and rear doors, allowing for access monitoring and the creation of authorized users.

The new SmartCabinet™ ID also solves another common problem for network edge locations by maximizing space utilization, a core design principle. Both its integrated cooling solution and power management block, which provides power to the cooling system, display, emergency fans, and sensors, occupy zero rack space, preserving that valuable space for servers and other IT equipment.

Vertiv also offers a full suite of services for the Vertiv™ SmartCabinet™ ID, including installation and commissioning, preventative maintenance contracts, and extended warranties, to ensure seamless and peace of mind when deploying computing capacity in challenging environments. The new cabinet is compatible with Vertiv's compact rack-mount uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), such as the Vertiv™ Liebert® GXT5 and Vertiv™ Liebert® GXT5 Lithium Ion, which provide protection against power outages and continuous power conditioning.

“Edge computing locations, such as those in industrial, logistics, and retail environments, directly enable business-critical applications, but the IT organizations responsible for their performance face significant challenges in maintaining the service levels typical of traditional data centers,” explained Alex Pope, Vice President of Global Edge Systems at Vertiv. “The SmartCabinet™ ID was specifically designed to address the physical security risks and harsh environments of many edge locations, while also providing the necessary power and cooling capabilities in these spaces.”.

The SmartCabinet™ ID can be virtually explored using the Vertiv™ XR app, an augmented reality experience that can be downloaded to mobile devices or tablets. The Vertiv XR app allows users to visualize the solution in their own space and explore its features and details from any angle.
