By combining Android screen systems (7-inch or 10-inch) with a video-on-demand server and network connectivity, the VIA BLISS turnkey solution allows passengers to watch TV and movies, listen to music, browse the internet, and participate in interactive games from the comfort of their coach seats. To ensure they're never bored, it also features a Device Management System (DMS) that makes it easy for operators to remotely monitor, control, and update content and devices using Over-The-Air (OTA) wireless technology.
"For many years, the use of in-flight entertainment systems has been limited primarily to airplanes, but now passengers demand the same types of services across all modes of long-distance transportation," explains Richard Brown, Vice President of Global Marketing at VIA Technologies, Inc. "Our goal with the VIA BLISS platform is to help manufacturers and coach companies meet this new demand by providing a complete and customizable solution that is easy to install and manage."
The VIA BLISS Platform has already been successfully deployed by major bus companies in Taiwan and Turkey, helping them improve passenger satisfaction and increase demand on their long-distance routes. Thanks to its scalable design and flexible development environment, the platform also provides operators with the opportunity to further enhance their competitiveness and generate additional revenue by creating new applications and services. For example, they can develop destination experience programs in partnership with leading hotels, restaurants, museums, and leisure establishments.
Main components of the VIA BLISS Platform
Android On-Board System Starter Kit
offers a flexible and reliable solution for quickly starting the development and installation of seatback or seatside touchscreen systems. Customers can also leverage VIA's Android expertise to save development time and costs, allowing them to focus on delivering greater added value.
The features of the Starter Kit include:
• Platform equipped with a high-performance dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor
• Advanced HD video playback and multimedia capabilities
• 7-inch or 10.1-inch screen configurations
• Fully customized Android Board Support Package (BSP) for in-vehicle infotainment services
• Proprietary integration toolkit (VIA Smart ETK) and sample application
Server
is a highly reliable, high-performance solution that enables the storage, management, and distribution of high-resolution video and multimedia content in popular formats (such as H.264) through the coach's infotainment system, all from a single platform. It includes:
• Complete vibration protection
• Compatibility with a wide range of power supply voltages (9V - 36V)
• Wider operating temperature range (from -20° to +65°C)
• A wide range of connectivity options in the coach comprising Gigabit Ethernet, TV, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth LE.
Network System
The core of the network system consists of a 9-port main hub (1 input and 8 outputs) that connects to the onboard VOD server and the vehicle's power system. This makes it possible to provide internet access, multimedia content, and power to onboard devices via a single Category 6 cable. It includes:
• One main 9-port hub (1 input and 8 outputs)
• Eight secondary 8-port hubs (1 input and 7 outputs)
• Supports up to 56 devices in the seats
