The Network Computing Awards, held on March 22nd in London, celebrated their sixth anniversary and are particularly significant because they are determined by the votes of Network Computing magazine readers—the people who use the products on a daily basis. These awards were created to recognize the companies, products, and services in the industry that have most impressed readers.

Excel beat the fierce competition from Brand-Rex (runner-up), TE Connectivity (formerly Krone), Belden, Nexans, Panduit and Systimax and won the award for another year.

Andrew Percival, CEO, commented: “Winning the Cabling Vendor of the Year award for the second year running is a great achievement, and we want to thank everyone who voted for us. In October 2011, we decided to refresh the Excel brand, which has not only improved the system's appearance but has also greatly helped to position Excel as a market leader. Receiving recognition like this Network Computing award has helped us reinforce this message and further demonstrate the system's remarkable dynamism.”.

The award was collected in the afternoon by the sales directors for the northern and southern regions, Ian Irving and John Twidell respectively, who appear in the image.
