The companies intend to work to offer a unified wired and wireless solution, as well as collaborate on global go-to-market opportunities to deliver proven carrier-class network performance to medium and large enterprise customers.

Gartner predicts that end-user spending on enterprise wireless LAN (WLAN) equipment will grow from $5.3 billion in 2015 to $7.8 billion worldwide in 2019. Ruckus and Juniper Networks believe this increase is being driven largely by an influx of new Wi-Fi devices and cloud applications deployed in employee workplaces. This places new levels of performance and bandwidth pressure on campus network infrastructure, from Wi-Fi access points to the network core, creating a need for a flexible, secure, and integrated solution for both wired and wireless networks.

The combination of Juniper Networks® EX Series Ethernet Switches with Ruckus ZoneFlex access points and the SmartZone (SZ) Wi-Fi management platform will offer carrier-class network solutions to different business environments and allow for easy network expansion as business demand grows.

SmartZone, combined with Juniper's Virtual Chassis technology, will reduce the number of logical wired and wireless devices for managing and automating the single network platform, ensuring maximum active-active backup availability. Juniper Networks Junos® Space Network Director will also provide end-to-end monitoring through a single pane of glass for easily managing growing networks and new service categories. Comprehensive security will be achieved with 802.1x network access control on both Ruckus Smart WiFi and Juniper Networks EX Series Switches. Ruckus will offer secure, simple, and integrated BYOD provisioning, while Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways will provide next-generation firewall capabilities.

The planned alliance is based on open hardware standards and software products from both Juniper Networks and Ruckus, and is built on Juniper's Open Converged Framework, ensuring investment protection for customers as their wired and wireless networking demands evolve.
