Device location with AWS IoT Core is available in seven regions worldwide for immediate use with AWS IoT Core. Semtech's LoRa Edge device-to-cloud solution is highly versatile thanks to its low-power, software-defined platform, which offers indoor and outdoor geolocation along with a multi-band LoRa® and LR-FHSS transceiver compatible with terrestrial and global LoRaWAN® satellite networks. This scalable, low-power, and cost-effective technology is ideal for numerous IoT applications, including those in the industrial, buildings, homes, agriculture, transportation, and logistics markets.
These are some of the key customer benefits of AWS IoT Core device location based on LoRa Cloud:
• Simplified development for building asset tracking solutions using LoRa Edge and AWS devices, thus reducing time to market
• The LoRa Edge platform enables very low-power devices that can operate for several years on a single battery
• Operation based on a single AWS IoT Core dashboard, including LoRa Cloud
• Available in seven regions
Customers have shown enthusiasm for the opportunities it offers and have begun adopting it.
“We are pleased to be building on LoRa Cloud as delivered through AWS IoT Core device location,” said Shunichi Higashi, CEO of Ryoden Corporation. “The ability to have a very low-power LoRa Edge geolocation solution for logistics tracking, coupled with the ability to develop the entire application on AWS in the Asia-Pacific (Tokyo) region, bringing all services together, represents a game-changer.”.
Klika Tech, the US-based global systems integrator and product developer, leveraged Semtech’s LoRa Edge asset tracking platform and Amazon IoT Core device location to build a smart pill container for its customer Counted. “Semtech’s LoRa Edge geolocation solution is scalable, low-power, and cost-effective, making it a perfect product for this consumer medical application from Counted,” said Gennadiy M. Borisov, president and co-CEO of Klika Tech.
This feature will be compatible with various hardware devices that incorporate Semtech's LoRa Edge and are already available on the market, for example from Semtech and Miromico, or will be available in the coming months, for example from Tektelic and Mikrotik.
“We are excited about the new opportunities that arise with the integration of LoRa Cloud geolocation services into the AWS IoT Core platform. This greatly expands the availability of LoRa Cloud geolocation services worldwide by making it easier for developers to build best-in-class asset tracking and monitoring solutions to connect and develop new IoT solutions,” said Mohan Maheswaran, president and CEO of Semtech. “Delivering comprehensive and reliable LoRaWAN-based connectivity at scale is paramount to building a smarter, more sustainable, and connected planet.”.
“The complexity of working with multiple vendors to build and deploy geolocation services for asset management has always been a complicated and time-consuming process for IoT solution developers,” said Yasser Alsaied, vice president of IoT at AWS. “Now, our customers can combine the capabilities of LoRa Edge with a range of AWS services through a single dashboard and a single bill. This empowers our global AWS ecosystem to quickly and easily build and connect tracking and location solutions.”.
