Currently operating in 14 countries, including the US, and with over 7 million devices connected to its network, SIGFOX is the only global provider offering subscription-based Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) communications for the Internet of Things. The company's unique solution is based on a dedicated global network to deliver ubiquitous connectivity to trillions of IoT-enabled objects.
The SIGFOX cloud-to-cloud integration, available to both SIGFOX and Microsoft customers, is based on the Azure IoT Hub, providing an easy and secure way to connect and control millions of devices. This collaboration allows users to leverage both the low-power, wide-area SIGFOX network and the advanced analytics and storage capabilities of Microsoft Azure to collect, analyze, and visualize vast amounts of operational data generated by their connected devices and applications.

“The integration of the SIGFOX Cloud with the Microsoft Azure IoT Hub is a key step in the evolution of IoT, providing customers with an excellent alternative to large investments in resources for developing and managing data storage, and allowing them to manage it themselves,” explains Stuart Lodge, Executive Vice President of International Sales at SIGFOX. “We are delighted to have Microsoft as part of our global ecosystem, as it will enable greater efficiency in our customers’ asset management tools and reduce their costs.”.

“The rapid proliferation of connected devices can present challenges in bringing together disparate data sources, managing the sheer volume of the global flow, and ensuring a variety of platforms and protocols work seamlessly together,” said Steve Guggenheimer, Microsoft Corporate Vice President of Platform Development and Evangelism and Chief Evangelist. “Our collaboration with SIGFOX enables Microsoft Azure IoT customers to more easily integrate SIGFOX-connected devices into their existing solutions.”
SIGFOX and Microsoft are also working together on both startup opportunities and large-scale joint projects with customers worldwide, including:

The “Connect Your City” hackathon in San Francisco saw 150 participants develop prototypes of connected hardware using the network and platform. The four winning teams developed smart solutions for the city of San Francisco, which is covered by the SIGFOX network.

The systems integrator Econocom is enabling the French company Servair to improve its logistics efficiency and the safety of the runways at Paris Orly Airport. This innovative logistics solution uses a network of connected buttons to send package disposal notifications to Servair employees.

In Grand Lyon Métropole in France, a solution developed by Exakis measures the city's air quality in real time using sensors placed on buses and trams. The Lyon Air platform, which will be launched soon, is fully monitored on Azure.

A program developed by the IoT consulting firm Eridanis allows GRT Gaz, one of Europe's largest natural gas transportation companies, to continuously monitor the status of its distribution network through connected terminals. The terminals transmit signals immediately if the sensors detect any changes in their position.
