The agreement, which lasts for five years, establishes a broad collaboration focused on knowledge development, skills advancement and territorial impact.
“For Vertiv, this collaboration with the University of Bologna is a strategic step that allows us to combine advanced research, technological innovation, and talent development,” says Giovanni Zanei, Vice President of Power Conversion Systems at Vertiv. “Joining forces with the University means contributing not only to regional growth but also to the generation of knowledge and solutions that will have an impact on digital projects and infrastructure globally.”
"This agreement," says Rector Giovanni Molari, "represents a model of virtuous collaboration between university and business, capable of generating shared value, concrete opportunities for students and researchers, and new pathways for sustainable development.".
Key initiatives include regionally, nationally, and European-funded research, development, and innovation projects; technical and scientific consulting; scholarships; research grants; doctoral programs; and the creation of shared laboratories and research infrastructure. A key focus will be the promotion and publication of results through seminars, events, and forums on cutting-edge topics.
In the educational sphere, qualified Vertiv experts will contribute to training programs from the undergraduate to the doctoral level, including specialized training courses, summer and winter schools, and interdisciplinary programs. The collaboration also includes skills development and retraining initiatives for Vertiv employees, with the potential creation of a dedicated Advanced Training School. Students and graduates will benefit from curricular internships, talent recruitment events, and international opportunities within Vertiv's global network.
The framework agreement also addresses technology transfer, with collaborations on patents, university start-ups and spin-offs, as well as workshops, competitions and open innovation initiatives, along with an emphasis on public participation, sustainability and social innovation, with projects that will benefit the territory and the community.
