The installation of this type of battery, due to the high temperatures it withstands, has allowed Yoigo to redefine the cooling system of its base stations in certain areas of Spain, improving energy efficiency and reducing investment in air conditioning and associated maintenance costs. Yoigo has installed Saft batteries for the first time inside an outdoor enclosure at a base station (BTS) in its network. This has eliminated the enclosure's air conditioning unit, allowing the station to operate solely with forced ventilation in an area where outdoor temperatures reach around 45°C. For this, they used Ni-Cd technology with the 38 TEL X 80 battery, which has a capacity of 80 Ah.
