Thanks to the use of Mavenir's automated mCloud™ manager, along with VMware virtualization technology, telecom-grade services can be created and their availability managed in an environment based on a wide range of off-the-shelf hardware solutions. Mavenir leverages its expertise in building resilient and highly scalable IMS solutions for technologies commonly used in large IT data centers. These virtualized IMS solutions can be flexibly deployed to meet customer needs, such as multi-tenancy and elasticity.
Leading Tier-1 operators in Europe are currently deploying Mavenir's virtualized IMS technology as part of their VoLTE/IMS deployments.
Pardeep Kohli, CEO of Mavenir Systems, explained: “Virtualization is a means for mobile operators to build next-generation core networks while fundamentally changing the cost equation that has historically been tied to the premium price paid for hardware ownership in relation to delivering optimal performance at a cost-effective price. Thanks to its ease of deployment, virtualization enables economies of scale previously unavailable to mobile operators.”
He added, “Mavenir’s virtualization technology provides the capacity and elasticity to cost-effectively manage anticipated growth in VoLTE and RCS.”
Mavenir’s mOne® convergence platform intelligently uses standard APIs to provision additional dynamic hardware resources in response to traffic spikes or to share hardware resources with other applications to scale hardware utilization during scheduled peak periods. These software-based core networks, in which applications are abstracted from the hardware, provide operators with a deployment model that enhances the economic benefits of network infrastructure and enables the rapid addition of new communications services and scalability as the market evolves.
"Mobile operators need and want programmable and elastic core networks," explained Gabriel Brown, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. "IMS virtualization is an opportunity to capture the efficiency gains associated with commercial hardware and, more importantly, to create an advanced image core network architecture that can be configured with software to better fit diverse customer types, use cases, and scaling scenarios."
These virtualized IMS solutions are built on Mavenir's IMS expertise and knowledge in addressing network transformation issues and are key enablers of the rapid deployment of IP-based voice, video, rich communications, and enhanced messaging services in 2013.
