The proof-of-concept (PoC) project involved a wide range of vEPC and VIMS equipment and solutions provided by ZTE, which will be used when testing end-to-end VoLTE services in virtualization environment development solutions. This process included the interoperability of management and orchestration functions and interfaces (MANO), Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) lifecycle management, VNF disaster recovery and maintenance management, end-to-end VoLTE functionality and performance, data plane acceleration, and the C/F separation functions of domain packet gateways.
To comply with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) references, the project was completed using an HP C7000 Blade server and a virtualization infrastructure manager (VIM) provided by ZTE and HP. The project was also implemented using ZTE's vEPC, VIMS, VNF management solutions, and Element Management Systems (EMS), in addition to a Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) orchestration feature provided by HP and ZTE.
