Modern mobile communications such as LTE, 802.11ac and 5G, satellite communications, broadcasting, aerospace and defense applications, establish new requirements in linearity, bandwidth and power consumption in components, mobile terminals or base stations.
Generally, one of the components that consumes the most energy and generates the most nonlinearities is the power amplifier, which is why every design aims to increase spectral efficiency, added power efficiency and reduce distortion and nonlinearities.
Characterization using continuous wave (CW) signals allows for the rapid and efficient determination of amplifier S-parameters, spurious parameters, compression parameters, and distortion parameters in a single measurement. However, this characterization can be incomplete due to factors such as memory effects and impedance matching to harmonic or intermodulation frequencies. Therefore, the use of complex, digitally modulated signals is highly useful for validating the nonlinear response of today's high-performance active devices.
On the other hand, when characterizing active devices, the correct balance between speed, performance, and measurement integrity is critical to achieving a competitive advantage for the final product.
This seminar will provide new measurement techniques and solutions to successfully meet current measurement challenges and those posed by your new designs.
