Converts an MPI/PROFIBUS electrical port to an optical one. With its optical signal transmission, it offers complete electrical isolation between PROFIBUS stations and PROFIBUS subnetworks.
FLEXtra® FO enables transmission speeds from 9.6 kbps to 12 Mbps over PROFIBUS with automatic speed detection.
The key advantage of FLEXtra® FO is its insensitivity to electromagnetic interference (EMC).
The transmission signals are converted into optical signals in the FLEXtra® FO and transmitted over the fiber optic line. The edge, level, and duty cycle of the signals are also regenerated. The FLEXtra® FO is available with three different optical interfaces and can therefore be seamlessly integrated with existing transmission systems. It is available for POF and PCF fiber optics.
Quick diagnosis via separate LEDs for fiber optic segments. It also features DIP switches to disconnect all or some of the segments.
The PROFIBUS OPTopus optical link is designed for maximum transmission reliability and availability. The optical link is available for BFOC, SMA, and Versatile Link connections. Short distances of up to 65 meters are possible with POF. For longer distances, up to 250 meters, PCF is recommended.
Because the FLEXtra® FO repeater is insensitive to electromagnetic interference, it can be used in areas with high EMC disturbances. Quick diagnostics are provided by separate LEDs for the FO and PROFIBUS segments.
