The Anybus CompactCom 40 series comprises industrial devices with multi-network connectivity, particularly to Industrial Ethernet. It is specifically designed for high-performance industrial applications and is available in chip, brick, and module formats. The 40 series solution for PROFINET enables fast communication between the host device and PROFINET (data latency through the module is less than 15 µs) and is compatible with PROFINET RT Class 1 and 3. It integrates a PROFINET IRT Ethernet switch and supports PROFINET functions such as Media Redundancy Protocol (MRP), Clock-Synchronous Operation, Fast Start Up, and PROFIenergy. CompactCom also incorporates a Black Channel interface for PROFIsafe communication. When used in conjunction with the IXXAT Safe T100 safety module, HMS
provides a complete communication solution for functional safety.

Ready for the Industrial Internet of Things.
In addition to its support for advanced PROFINET functionality, the CompactCom 40 series provides users with powerful IT features that run concurrently with PROFINET's real-time capabilities. These IT features include, for example, a socket interface that allows for the transmission of a full Ethernet frame (up to 1500 bytes), embedded web pages, a file system, and firmware updates via FTP, among others.
The 40 series also features security functions such as mandatory software signatures to prevent the downloading of unauthorized software onto the product; it also employs encryption to prevent illegal copying.
CompactCom PROFINET is available in versions for both conventional copper cabling and fiber optic cabling.

The first PROFINET 2.31 adapter.
PROFINET is an advanced and demanding network for industrial devices, so it's a good proof of concept that the CompactCom 40 series meets the latest PI requirements (PI = PROFIBUS and PROFINET International).
A development project offers access to any other network. By implementing the CompactCom 40 series, users achieve connectivity to EtherCAT, POWERLINK, EtherNet/IP, Modbus-TCP, CC-Link, PROFINET, and PROFIBUS. Since its introduction in 2014, the 40 series technology has been evaluated and certified by networking organizations. This means that device manufacturers implementing the Anybus CompactCom 40 series will have a pre-certified interface, thus accelerating the certification process for their products.
