Profibus DP is a high-speed communication bus that requires strict adherence to regulations regarding its branch lines, particularly concerning potential reflections that could affect data transmission. The new Procentec ProfiHub B4FO2+ and B2FO2+ address this issue by significantly reducing downtime due to communication failures and providing greater functionality to branch and isolated segments, thus preventing production costs resulting from unstable operation.
The ProfiHub B4FO2+ offers four transparent, galvanically isolated repeaters and an optical link module in a single device, and can also act as a fiber optic to RS-485 serial port converter. Its design allows the connection of four DP/RS485 segments, each capable of managing up to 31 devices of standard length. The ProfiHub B2FO2+ offers similar functionality with two transparent, galvanically isolated repeaters and an optical link module.
Since both devices facilitate the creation of isolated segments, Procentec's ProfiHubs allow different peripheral elements to be repositioned and added while operations are underway without any risk to process continuity. Similarly, they offer complete protection against potential bus electrical failures or electromagnetic disturbances, guaranteeing communication stability without jeopardizing other segments of the control infrastructure.
Potential applications of this technology include the creation of fiber optic backbones; branch segments for actuators, flow meters, and pH analyzers; removable motors and drivers; pull/plug motor control centers; barriers for non-galvanically isolated equipment; deployment of high-availability networks; and large-scale star or tree architectures.
With a compact and robust design, the use of this new generation of devices offers short-circuit protection on each channel, the option to create redundant routes to other supporting Hubs or ComBricks, LEDs for status and error indication, compatibility with all PROFIBUS DP cables and a DB9 female connector included on each channel, among other features.
Profihub B4FO2+ and Profihub B2FO2+ concentrators, with two and four channels respectively, for connecting copper and fiber optic segments
Logitek presents the new ProfiHub B4FO2+ and ProfiHub B2FO2+, two devices developed by its partner Procentec that deliver all the capabilities for total stability and continuity of operations in industrial facilities that need 24/7 operation.
