According to Rolf-Dieter Sommer, product manager at Hirschmann: “The trend towards Power over Ethernet is raising the bar for Ethernet devices. To keep pace with these increasing data demands, our product series now offers more power and reliability while reducing space and weight, thus optimizing power budgets for system engineers working in harsh industrial environments.”

The open request system allows custom-tailored PoE+ switches to meet specific application requirements, giving customers the option of fiber or copper ports, up to 28 ports, and power delivery across various input voltage ranges: 24 to 110 volts DC and 100 to 230 volts AC. With IP64 and IP67 ratings, the switch meets routing requirements in waterproof and dustproof enclosures for mounting outside cabinets and operates in temperatures ranging from -40°C to +70°C.

These functions make the OCTOPUS OS24/34 well-equipped for transport, automotive, machine building and manufacturing environments, including on board train networks, passenger information systems in train stations, conveyor belt systems and traffic monitoring on highways and bridges and in tunnels.

The new OCTOPUS OS24/34 meets specific market regulations, including EN 50155 for operating conditions on railway vehicles, EN 50121-4 for railway lines, EN 45545 for trains, GL for ships and e1 for use on road vehicles.
