The solution will allow engineering activities to be initiated using natural language instructions and will connect different software tools, AI capabilities, and workflows within a unified environment.
FactoryTalk Conductor will be showcased at Automation Fair 2026 in Boston, where attendees will be able to learn about its features before its commercial launch, scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. The platform is designed to facilitate the application of artificial intelligence in the design, development, simulation, testing, and maintenance of industrial systems.
An orchestration platform for industrial artificial intelligence.
According to Rockwell Automation's 2026 State of Smart Manufacturing Report, one-third of manufacturing operations already incorporate artificial intelligence. The company anticipates that this adoption will continue to accelerate, highlighting the need to integrate AI into existing work processes.
FactoryTalk Conductor addresses this scenario with a platform that coordinates various AI-driven tasks. Instead of simply providing a standalone assistant for each application, the solution is designed to connect engineering tools, data, and AI capabilities.
Craig Resnick, vice president of ARC Advisory Group, believes the next stage of industrial artificial intelligence will be marked by the orchestration of tasks across different systems. According to Resnick, FactoryTalk Conductor reflects the evolution toward agentic automation by bringing together AI agents, work processes, and industry knowledge in a common environment.
Engineering through natural language instructions:
One of the main features of FactoryTalk Conductor is the ability to initiate engineering tasks using natural language. Users can describe the activities they wish to perform, while the platform connects the necessary software tools, artificial intelligence capabilities, and processes to execute them. This approach aims to reduce the complexity associated with using multiple applications during the development of automation projects.
The solution is designed to coordinate activities ranging from the initial design of a system to the development, simulation, testing, and verification phases.
Rockwell Automation thus proposes a model in which artificial intelligence is integrated into engineering processes and does not function solely as an isolated tool.
Initial Integration with Studio 5000, Logix Echo, Emulate3D, and FactoryTalk Optix.
At its commercial launch, FactoryTalk Conductor will be integrated with four Rockwell Automation software solutions:
- Studio 5000 Logix Designer, within the engineering and development processes of automation systems.
- Logix Echo, as part of the work environments supported by the platform.
- Emulate3D, for integration into simulation and testing processes.
- FactoryTalk Optix, within the development and application processes of industrial software.
These integrations will allow for the coordination of tasks at different stages of the automation lifecycle.
The company also plans to progressively expand compatibility with other solutions in its portfolio. Among the announced future integrations are FactoryTalk Design Studio, FactoryTalk Historian, Plex, and Fiix. These additions are intended to extend AI-driven workflows to more areas of industrial operations.
Compatibility with cloud-hosted or on-premises AI models:
FactoryTalk Conductor is designed to adapt to different business and AI governance requirements. The platform will offer organizations the ability to use AI services hosted on FactoryTalk Hub or connect their preferred language models. This compatibility will include both large and small language models.
The use of locally hosted open weight models is also being considered, an option that can help reduce recurring costs associated with token consumption.
This flexibility will allow companies to select artificial intelligence capabilities based on their needs and the criteria established for their use.
AI agents with specialized automation expertise:
Rockwell Automation highlights the combination of orchestration capabilities with specialized knowledge of industrial applications. FactoryTalk Conductor will allow the use of agents and capabilities verified by Rockwell Automation, as well as the development of functions tailored to the needs of each organization. The platform is designed to integrate these capabilities with the software, data, and services used in industrial operations.
Matheus Bulho, senior vice president of Software and Control at Rockwell Automation, points out that this combination is one of the differentiating factors of FactoryTalk Conductor. According to Bulho, customers will be able to leverage company-verified features, create capabilities specific to their business, and connect artificial intelligence with their work tools.
The goal is to provide a scalable foundation to streamline engineering tasks and maintain the standards required in industrial environments.
Task coordination throughout the automation lifecycle.
The new platform is designed to simplify workflows that require the use of multiple engineering applications. Among the benefits anticipated by Rockwell Automation is the coordination of design, development, testing, and verification activities through AI-powered features.
The integration between tools also aims to reduce process complexity and facilitate access to specialized automation expertise. Furthermore, the capabilities verified by Rockwell Automation are designed to provide greater assurance of trust and reliability in the application of AI to industrial tasks.
These features are part of the FactoryTalk Conductor proposal, which has not yet been launched.
