Version 13 can also read information directly from Simatic controllers (Simatic S7-300/S7-400) and connected Profinet devices. This provides maintenance personnel with a comprehensive overview of all device conditions and connections at any time, covering even large networks of up to 50,000 nodes for effective monitoring. The software is designed to enable the early detection of potential faults, allowing for preventative action and thus increasing availability. Sinema Server V13 is designed for manufacturing and process industries.
Device data is analyzed using the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) or, with direct access to the device, via Profinet mechanisms. The result is a public and accurate analysis of the data for device identification (I&M data) as well as diagnostic data. Sinema Server is also designed to address the specific requirements of the automation field: the software supports dynamic topologies, such as tool changers, as well as detailed configuration of various redundant protocols used in automation environments. Furthermore, logical subnets (virtual local area networks) and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) are detected, diagnosed, and clearly visualized to provide transparent diagnostics in connected IT and automation network environments.
The acquired data relating to the network and the automation application is stored in a long-term file and can also be presented in reports. This allows for determining the root cause of past events and preventing potential sources of error in the future. The resulting network diagnostics are seamlessly integrated into HMI/SCADA systems (such as Simatic WinCC and Simatic PCS7) via OPC (specifically, OPC UA) and web-based mechanisms.
The overall status of large networks (up to 100 servers with up to 500 nodes) that monitor multiple servers can be displayed centrally using the "Server Summary" function. Users automatically receive notifications (event emails) about changes in network components, enabling them to respond immediately to potential latent problems or quickly resolve existing issues. These servers can also perform comprehensive assessments using external tools; Sinema Server provides a web interface for data export. This allows data to be aggregated—using standard programs like Excel or script-based systems—and subsequently evaluated and processed according to client requirements.
