It has 4 trunk fiber ports (1 oval + 2 cable glands). The latter are for fiber optic cable segregation, and 16 customer drop ports, each large enough to accommodate pre-connectorized pigtails. All drop ports are sealed with individual grommets, maintaining the enclosure's original IP65 rating. The lid opens vertically and is secured with a key and heavy-duty latches. The FDO-4016 enclosure features a multi-level tray design for fiber organization. The trunk fiber is segregated and organized on the bottom level. The intermediate level tray is designed to accommodate up to 2 mini-splitters plus the splices for all fibers. On the top level or lid, pigtails or splitter outputs are connected to the SC/LCdx matchers at the rear, and customer drops are connected to the front as they are installed. In the B3 version, the previous 3-tray block is replaced by a block that can accommodate up to 4 trays with 24 splice holders, as well as optical splitters. There is also space for 12 SC/LCdx cross-connectors. The B3 version is a small, gray box designed to house fiber optic cable splices and segregations on building facades, replacing the need for encapsulated units.
