Avago Technologies and Corning Incorporated have teamed up to deliver long-range, high-density embedded optical connectivity solutions for 100G interconnects in data centers and enterprise network applications. These joint solutions enable data centers and enterprise networks to upgrade from 10G Ethernet to 100G while achieving link distances of up to 400 m in compliance with IEEE 10G Ethernet standards and up to 550 m using Corning PretiumEDGE® cables with Corning® ClearCurve® OM4 bend-resistant multimode fiber.
“As data network infrastructure moves to 100G transmission speeds to meet the demand for high bandwidth, the need for long-range, high-density 100G embedded optical connectivity becomes imperative for today’s data centers and enterprise networks,” said Philip Gadd, Vice President and General Manager of Avago’s Fiber Optic Products Division. “Now, together with Corning, we are able to offer a high-density 100G embedded optical link with a range exceeding 500 meters.”
“Corning has a long history of developing innovative fiber optic technology to achieve higher bandwidth performance in data centers, and we are excited to launch Avago’s new series of embedded optical connectivity solutions,” said Stuart Hoiness, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Networking at Corning Optical Communications. "We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Avago and other industry leaders in the future as we create the next generation of optical technologies that will transform the data centers of today and tomorrow."
