AFL FAST connectors are field-installable, pre-polished connectors that eliminate the need for manual polishing. They feature a factory-prepolished ferrule and precise mechanical alignment, ensuring low-loss termination for both single-mode and multimode fibers. These connectors are compatible with 250 µm and 900 µm fibers, as well as 900 µm² fibers with 2 mm and 3 mm stranding. All primary fibers are compatible, and each connector is color-coded for easy identification.
Included with the FAST connector is an innovative translucent wedge that allows the use of a VFI (Visual Fiber Interface) to provide a "pass/no-pass" signal upon physical contact. Additionally, each connector comes factory-installed with a wedge clip that holds a wedge clamp in the open position until a fiber is inserted. Once inserted, the wedge clip is removed, securing the fiber in the fiber channel by aligning it with the prepolished fiber stub inside.
