The CTP10 component test platform incorporates technology acquired by EXFO from its September 2017 acquisition of Yenista Optics, a developer of test and measurement instruments. The new CTP10 platform can be used by research scientists to characterize components or in automated mode for high-volume production.
The increasing demand for photonic integrated circuits (PICs), composed of hundreds of passive components, and the need to reduce network equipment costs have contributed to the need for passive component manufacturers to decrease testing time while maintaining accuracy and reliability. According to EXFO, the CTP10 component test platform has the capability to measure IL and RL in a single sweep at up to 1000 Nmps to address these challenges.

This announcement follows EXFO's launch earlier this year of SkyRAN, a remote access testing and monitoring system for fiber optic fronthaul wireless networks, such as those planned for 5G mobile devices.
