IP500 is the global wireless standard platform for security and surveillance applications in the Internet of Things (IoT) environment. The IP500 platform focuses on security in building automation applications, enabling fully interoperable connections between various devices, such as temperature, motion, smoke, intrusion, or HVAC sensors and actuators. By providing an integrated solution based on IEEE 802.15.4 in the sub-GHz band, the IP500 standard is the only standard that meets international security standards (e.g., EN, VdS, or UL) in an IPv6-based wireless mesh network at an affordable price. The IP500 standard is positioned for new drive applications in price-sensitive IoT segments, such as smart grids, smart lighting, and smart meters, as well as wearable devices with greater integration
The main challenge worldwide is interoperability, combined with the performance of low-power wireless networks in IoT applications. The IP500 alliance is growing rapidly as new OEMs and partners join to deliver complete ecosystems for IoT applications. EBV Elektronik will now offer IP500 modules within its EBVchips program, enabling new products and business opportunities for equipment manufacturers and IP500 partners. As part of the Avnet organization, EBV will be able to provide support and distribution worldwide.
About the IP500 Alliance:
The IP500 Alliance® is an international industry initiative launched by leading manufacturers (OEMs), users, and operators. Its objective is to jointly define, develop, and provide a secure and neutral wireless communication platform for smart sensor devices in buildings and homes. The new IP500® platform will meet all the technical requirements for secure, interoperable, and multidisciplinary networks of smart devices for use in all areas of building automation.
