“The addition of Alphawave Semi’s silicon intellectual property introduces industry-leading technology for our customers, enabling them to achieve unprecedented breakthroughs across diverse industries in dramatically reduced timeframes,” said Mike Ellow, CEO of Siemens EDA, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “We look forward to collaborating with Alphawave Semi to deliver cutting-edge intellectual property that addresses the most complex connectivity challenges in the world’s leading advanced process nodes.”.
Alphawave, a company in the high-speed connectivity IP sector with 112G and 224G SERDES chip designs in multiple nodes and factories, offers proven, multi-standard silicon IP platforms that enable faster data transmission and greater reliability with lower power consumption for designs at 7nm, 6nm, 5nm and beyond.
“Siemens Digital Industries Software is a key and trusted partner for AI developers and hyperscalers, and our agreement simplifies and accelerates the SoC development process for these and other cutting-edge technologies by incorporating Alphawave Semi’s intellectual property,” said Tony Pialis, president and CEO of Alphawave Semi. “Our technologies play a critical role in reducing interconnection bottlenecks, and this collaboration greatly expands our customer reach, enabling more companies to deliver next-level data processing.”.
Siemens will act as a key partner associated with the IP of Alphawave Semi's PHY, Controller and Subsystem platform, optimized for advanced technology nodes, either individually or in conjunction with Siemens' extensive range of EDA tools and services.
Under this agreement, Siemens will offer:
- IP PHY: Alphawave Semi's multi-standard connectivity IP portfolio covering Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, and Die-to-Die applications. These IPs support a wide range of data rates from 1 Gbps to 224 Gbps, used in more than 30 different industry protocols/standards.
- Controller IP: Siemens will offer HBM3E memory controllers, D2D streaming controllers, and PCIe/CXL combo controllers, as well as multi-channel/multi-rate Ethernet controllers, which together represent the industry-leading comprehensive interface controller IP portfolio. These IPs, covering the most widely used connectivity interfaces, offer low power consumption, footprint, and latency, while targeting applications in data center, telecom, cloud computing, AI, NPU, and 5G wireless.
Subsystem Platforms: Siemens' offering will also include Alphawave Semi's subsystem platforms, which combine industry-leading PHY IP and interface controller IP for an efficient total design solution.
