Siemens Digital Industries contributes its technology and consulting/auditing services, incorporating digital products into both industrial network components and controllers and visualization systems. This includes hardening these devices, encrypting communication, and performing data and program backups to ultimately create resilient systems.
Telefónica, for its part, offers its extensive portfolio of security services and IT expertise to complement the client's security plan design and respond to any vulnerabilities detected, thanks to real-time infrastructure monitoring.
Siemens has an accredited cybersecurity laboratory, part of the RNLI (National Network of Industrial Laboratories), at its headquarters in Tres Cantos (Madrid).
Internationally, Siemens has created the Cybersecurity Charter of Trust, an alliance that promotes and fosters best practices in cybersecurity across the entire economic value chain and is comprised of major multinational corporations and industry associations.
Emilio Gayo, President of Telefónica Spain, believes that this alliance “will be a starting point for expanding cybersecurity services and continuing to demonstrate our commitment to the digitalization of businesses and society as a whole. Economic and social progress will now, more than ever, come from companies like Telefónica and Siemens that can develop digitalization solutions in any of their sectors.”
For Miguel Ángel López, CEO of Siemens Spain, the agreement represents “a significant boost to ensure the success of the digital transformation of the Spanish economy in the era of the Internet of Things. Digitalization and cybersecurity are two sides of the same coin.”
