Specifically, this accreditation covers the design and development of tooling and onboard components—those located inside the aircraft—such as composites, metals, and wiring for manufacturers and suppliers in the aerospace industry. The rigorous standards these materials must meet make this area of aeronautics one of the most demanding in terms of quality.
In this regard, this standard provides a specific approach for CETEMET and adds further requirements to ISO 9001, which the Center also holds and which aims to increase the quality, reliability, and safety of aerospace products. According to Patricio Lupiáñez, president of CETEMET, “this standard allows us to work as design suppliers to the aerospace sector under international quality standards that guarantee the suitability and exclusivity of our work.”.
In addition to the recently obtained aerospace certification EN 9100, CETEMET is also accredited according to the ISO 9001 Quality Management Standard, the ISO 14001 Environment Standard, the ISO 166002 R&D Management Standard and the ISO 17025 Testing and Calibration Laboratory accreditation standard.
Actions in the aeronautical sector
CETEMET has carried out a series of projects and initiatives within the aeronautical sector through various R&D projects under the Feder-Innterconecta program of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. Specifically, in the 'Odiseo' program, being implemented in collaboration with EADS, ELIMCO, and SINTERSA, the Technology Center has designed a pioneering automated aeronautical wiring processing machine. This is because the wiring used in the manufacturing and assembly processes of this sector does not follow an automated process and requires various manual tasks.
Furthermore, in the 'Simva' project, in collaboration with CESA (Compañía Española de Sistemas Aeronáuticos), CETEMET has participated in the development of flight control components for aircraft during the industrialization phase. In the 'Desafío' initiative, the Center has designed tooling for manufacturing carbon fiber structural parts for aircraft using innovative technologies. 'Desafío' is being carried out in conjunction with Aeroepoxy Composites Andalucía and FIDAMC (Fundación para la Investigación, Desarrollo y Aplicación de Materiales Compuestos).
Regarding work outside of Innterconecta, CETEMET has implemented design, digitization and reverse engineering services, using different materials and technologies, for certain parts and manufacturing tools for recognized companies in the sector such as Airbus, Boeing, Alestis, Aerointer or Aeroepoxy.
