The Quantum solar car uses the following Molex interconnect products:
-- MX150 Sealed Connector System: a high-performance, submersible interconnect solution suitable for automotive systems, off-road vehicles, and other harsh environments. The compact, pre-assembled MX150 connector system supports low-level signal and power applications.

- MX150L Connector System: Ideal for low-level signal and power applications. The MX150L sealed connector system supports high-power applications and long voltage cables to eliminate voltage drops. Also suitable for rugged non-automotive applications. MX150L connectors can be modified to meet the UV resistance and waterproofing requirements of solar systems and other outdoor applications.


- Mini MI II System: a space-saving solution designed for use in high-density cable harness applications. Available with wire-to-board and wire-to-wire connection options, and in various cable lengths and custom configurations. The Mini MI II system delivers the same 1.5 A current as similar systems with a 2.00 mm pitch, but in a more compact design.


The UMsolar team, composed of students from the University of Michigan, designs and builds solar-powered vehicles and is renowned as the most successful team in North America. Since its founding in 1990, the team has built 10 vehicles and is the current champion of the North American Solar Challenge, a race it has won three times in a row. 


The World Solar Challenge is a biennial event in which the UMsolar team has finished third four times. This year, the race, which starts on October 16 and lasts for a week, tests solar-powered vehicles on a 1,800-mile (3,000 km) route across the Australian continent from Darwin to Adelaide.
