As the world's first and only certified eco-track, the Nürburgring Motorsport Complex in Nürburg, Germany, had to cope with a growing number of races and needed to establish a special measurement method for monitoring noise emissions from track vehicles. To achieve this, it chose Identec Solutions' SensorSMART Platform, an ecosystem for active RFID tags, sensors, readers, and edgeware for the application network.
“With Identec Solutions’ high-speed solution, we were able to fully automate the stations for collecting and mapping sound intensity levels,” explained Edelbert Shaffert, Managing Director of BeSB. “This was achieved with an easy-to-deploy infrastructure for a highly reliable solution.”.
For greater flexibility, the Nürburgring noise measurement application was designed to be entirely web-based. “The complex’s internet server is a list of participants that is constantly updated with information provided by the RFID sensors in the vehicles,” Schaffert explained.
Since the beginning of 2011, all vehicles at the Nürburgring Motorsport Complex have been equipped with an Identec Solutions sensor. Automated noise level detection has significantly reduced the administrative burden and enabled real-time monitoring and response to situations.
