The aid granted to Hispasat by the State Secretariat for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructure amounts to 76.3 million euros, and is intended to allow the configuration of the platform necessary to provide ultra-fast connectivity and to cover the installation costs and acquisition of equipment associated with the registration of the end user (up to a maximum of 600€ for each service and client) in any location in the Spanish geography where there is no internet access of at least 50 Mbps.
The aim of this funding is to subsidize high-capacity internet access infrastructure using HISPASAT satellite technology, bridging the digital divide in rural areas, sparsely populated and remote municipalities, and those with low population density. The funding is available to individuals, businesses, and local councils. Local councils can apply for subsidies for up to five access points.
