The Jeroen Pit House, which is being built within the grounds of Emma Children's Hospital, will make the difficult transition from hospital to home easier, safer, and more stable for children with chronic illnesses and their families.
More than 30 audiovisual brands have committed to providing services and products free of charge to develop the multimedia space, which will include a sensory stimulation room and a home theater. Woelf and AVEX have generously contributed design, product management, and installation services. Other generous collaborators include ACT, Antratek, Apart, Arcam, Attero Tech, Audac, Audinate, Audipack, AVEX, Barco, Belden, Biamp, Bose, Chief, Cisco, Crestron, GenericAV, Intronics, Kenwell, Kramer AV, Logitech, Middle Atlantic, Monitor Audio, Nedis, Pakedge (SnapOne), Philips, Procab, Projecta, SCP, Sennheiser, Sony, StarTech, TU, and tvONE.
“Thanks to the continued generosity of industry partners, we have brought together the best of technology, design, and installation expertise to create a high-tech entertainment space within the transitional care unit. The project will offer, among other things, a respite for children with chronic illnesses and their families to spend time together and prepare for life at home,” said Mike Blackman, Managing Director of Integrated Systems Events.
ISE's support for the development of The Jeroen Pit House project is part of its legacy to the city of Amsterdam, where ISE was headquartered for 15 years before relocating to Barcelona in 2021. The initial goal was to create a state-of-the-art multimedia space, but thanks to the continued generosity of collaborators in the audiovisual sector, the project has evolved to include technology in all eight apartments, a cinema and presentation room, the common area, and the original multimedia space. CEDIA-awarded residential integrator Woelf from Belgium, along with commercial integration expert AVEX from the Netherlands, collaborated with the project team to design and prepare a sophisticated systems installation that reflects the unique needs of The Jeroen Pit House.
Preparations have been underway for more than three years and, after some understandable setbacks related to the pandemic, the building is scheduled to be completed in early spring 2022. Despite the turbulence of the last 16 months, the audiovisual collaborators have maintained their commitment to the project:
“At Sony, we remain avid supporters of ISE, AVIXA, and CEDIA, and we are honored to be part of this important project for a city with such a rich technological heritage. By donating some of our flagship products, such as BRAVIA screens and laser projectors, we are proud to be one of the audiovisual partners contributing to the efforts to provide children with this much-needed home at Jeroen Pit House,” said Damien Weissenburger, Head of Sony Professional Displays and Solutions.
Jan Martens, Integration Specialist at Woelf, commented: “The support from the audiovisual industry has been heartwarming. The quality of the contributions has allowed us to look beyond the original media area and plan a broader, more sophisticated integration to meet the needs of The Jeroen Pit House for many years to come. It’s incredibly humbling to have the opportunity to give back in this way.”.
“At AVEX, we are very pleased and proud to be working with the team in charge of the Jeroen Pit Huis project. It is very valuable for us to work on a facility that will be so beneficial for children with chronic illnesses and their families,” added Albert Bosman, Deputy Director of AVEX International. “For the entire design and installation of the audiovisual equipment, we focused on reliability and ease of use, which is indeed very important in this environment. All the suppliers involved responded spontaneously, expressing their strong desire to contribute to this project. With the team’s great enthusiasm and everyone’s hard work, we are confident that we will be able to facilitate the necessary communication for healthcare and hospital staff, and allow patients to enjoy their favorite films and music.”.
