EllaLink will have three points of presence hosted in data centers on the Iberian Peninsula, connected by a backhaul ring between Lisbon, Madrid, and Sines. Future connectivity to Africa, the Middle East, and Asia will be provided through Interxion's campus in Marseille, enabling greater global reach to the Latin American market.
Diego Mata, Chief Operating Officer of EllaLink, explains: “The opening of a new data corridor from Europe to Latin America will greatly improve transatlantic diversity, providing a direct route between the two continents. Ensuring our customers can easily connect to our network in a neutral manner is another important part of EllaLink’s strategy. The cable system will extend from Sines, via Lisbon, through our diverse long-term network to create open access interconnection points in Madrid. By choosing Interxion Madrid as part of our network, we are offering connectivity to more than 150 networks and content providers present in its data centers.”.
According to Robert Assink, General Manager of Interxion in Spain: “The EllaLink submarine cable system represents a new internet superhighway between Europe and Latin America. Our customers greatly value the diversity it offers compared to existing routes, along with the faster and more direct connectivity it will provide to and from Latin America.”.
