Other people who attended the ceremony were Ángel Lozano, Professor in the Department of Communication and Information Technologies and Director of the Chair; Daniel Serra, Delegate of the Rector for corporate chairs; Jordi Ilario, COO and Vice President of Licensing at Fractus; and Carmen Borja, CTO and Director of Intellectual Property at Fractus.
“Promoting knowledge transfer is one of the main objectives of the current UPF leadership team, and therefore, this partnership with Fractus couldn't have come at a better time,” stated Oriol Amat. Ángel Lozano further emphasized, “The partnership with a successful company like Fractus is a great opportunity for UPF and for the WiSeCom (Wireless & Secure Communications) research group. The chair will support research activities in future 6G systems, but above all, it will focus on boosting technology transfer.”.
Ruben Bonet states, "The launch of the chair with UPF is a very important milestone for Fractus. Research activities in the field of 6G undoubtedly have a promising future. UPF's reputation for developing new technologies is well-established, and we are very proud to be a part of it. Furthermore, this stage of development that Fractus has reached, more than twenty years after our founding as a university spin-off, represents a magnificent opportunity to contribute to society as a whole, and to UPF in particular, our expertise in designing commercial and industrial strategies for launching innovative technologies, in areas such as financing, licensing, and intellectual property protection.".
