Motorola has provided the core TETRA digital radio communications infrastructure, as well as Motorola MTP850 TETRA terminals and MTM800E mobile phones, for use in the new mission-critical digital network, in partnership with principal contract partner Nokia Siemens Networks. The network is based on Motorola's Dimetra IP solution and delivers TETRA over an IP-based network, providing a resilient, robust, and reliable platform for unrestricted communication. Motorola's technology and services also support the future development of the system nationwide, including the provision of higher data rates to support the deployment of advanced mobile data solutions.

Motorola's field-tested MTP850 model was designed with the end user in mind, featuring an intuitive, mobile phone-style interface. It offers advanced technology solutions, such as an integrated GPS receiver for precise personnel location. Motorola's intuitive, industrial-grade products undergo rigorous testing to ensure superior quality and reliability under the most extreme conditions.
In recent months, more than 1,800 Oslo police officers have been trained on the new equipment, connecting it to the mission-critical TETRA network.
