This year, visitors will find navigating the venue particularly easy, thanks to the dedicated Technology Zones that group exhibitors into key technology areas. While Halls 3 and 5 house the main ISE exhibitors, as well as companies whose multi-technology offerings are not easily grouped in a single Technology Zone, the other halls include those for Audio, Lighting, and Stage Design in Hall 7; Digital Signage and DooH in Hall 6; and Residential and Smart Buildings, along with Unified Communications and Educational Technology, in Hall 2.

Conference Program:
This year’s conference program covers a wide range of current topics across multiple sectors, beginning with the Smart Buildings Conference, which will take place on May 9, the day before ISE opens its doors. Focusing on smart, safe, and sustainable building technologies, the SBC will host speakers such as Erik Ubels, owner of Metisreal; Kathy Farrington, global director of Google’s digital buildings (Bos) program and head of the IoT team; and Matthew Marson, head of the UK manufacturing and technology sector at Arcadis.
The Control Room Summit will kick off the content program on May 10. This half-day event will explore how control rooms are changing and how the community must work together to deliver new, effective, and outstanding models. It will be followed by the first-ever Smart Workplace Summit, which will delve into the innovations transforming the workplace.
The Digital Signage Summit returns on May 11 with a program packed with topics such as eco-friendly signage, industry consolidation, best practices, and the latest technological trends. Speakers include Kai Hendrik Müller from Porsche, Valentina Candeloro, International Marketing Director at Mood Media, and Judith Palmés Bosch, Managing Director of Business Consulting/Clients and Services at Accenture.
On the afternoon of May 11, the Digital Learning Summit will explore the digital transformation of higher education. Zoom will offer an inside look at its success and product roadmap as it positions itself at the heart of the learning ecosystem. There will also be compelling success stories from universities developing creative solutions to deliver hybrid learning at scale.
The first Superyacht Technology Summit, taking place on the morning of May 12, will host inspiring technology speakers and thought leaders from around the world who will discuss the integration process, as well as practical demonstrations and immersive workshops, and technical talks that will explain how to succeed in the sector and highlight how leading companies can successfully work with superyacht R&D teams.
At the Live Events Summit, experts from the world of professional audio, leading manufacturers, and professionals from the live events industry will share their expertise on topics such as immersive audio, remote mixing, and networking.
Association Activities
In addition to these conferences, AVIXA and CEDIA will also organize extensive educational programs and special events.
CEDIA's extensive offering will be delivered by subject matter experts from around the world and also includes the opportunity to take CEDIA training courses in Spanish, along with a wide range of opportunities to learn new skills. The sessions will begin on the morning of May 10 with an update on future technologies by Rich Green. Other topics to be discussed include design documentation, energy and energy storage, WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E, and video technologies. CEDIA will also host a series of more business-focused sessions, such as 20 Ways to Increase Profits, A Project Manager's Guide to Financial Issues, and How to Build Your Business with Training.
AVIXA will kick off its ISE offerings on May 9 with a regional meeting for the French audiovisual community. Similar events will be organized throughout the trade show for Italian and German attendees.
On May 11, the AVIXA Women's Council will host a shared experiences panel in the projection dome of Hall 5. The panelists will discuss practical ways to inspire and empower women in the audiovisual sector and analyze what companies are doing to address the gender imbalance and promote and encourage women in the workplace.
The following day, two roundtables organized by the AVIXA Diversity Council will be held on the conference stage in Hall 5. The first will be Designing for Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, which will address equity in leadership and building a culture of inclusion, the benefits of diversity, and how technology helps diversity efforts.
Next, we will discuss Intersectionality and AV/IT/AI. Intersectionality is the recognition that everyone has their own experiences of discrimination and oppression, and we must consider everything that can marginalize people. This session will explore how to create safe spaces and build communities, while establishing pathways and opportunities for individual and organizational growth.
AVIXA is also organizing the AV Experience Zone, also in Hall 5. With content in Spanish showcasing the most advanced AV solutions and the latest industry trends, different sessions will be held targeting audiences from vertical markets, professional technicians, and students.
Also focused on students, Audiovisual Career Day returns to ISE on May 11. Organized by AVIXA, CEDIA, and ISE, this year's event will bring participants together in the Screening Dome for panel sessions and presentations before guided tours of the exhibition hall and concluding with networking drinks.
Features and experiences of the fair
The ISE Sound Xperience will also impress visitors every day of the show, taking place at the Filmax Cinema Gran Vía Events Complex, just a few hundred meters from Hall 5. The cinema will host a series of uniquely configured audio spaces, allowing leading audio brands such as Martin Audio, L-Acoustics, and Adamson to showcase their latest technologies in a realistic way. Equipped with the latest Dolby digital cinema surround sound processors and high-end Barco projectors, the rooms range in size from large-scale spaces to more intimate settings.
For those interested in the world of audio and live events, the Live Events Arena in Hall 7 has been specially created to enhance the visitor experience. In addition to showcasing the latest solutions for the industry, the arena stage will host 15-minute product demonstrations to provide a more in-depth look at the latest technologies. There will also be a dedicated networking area.
Visitors looking to discover new technologies and find collaboration opportunities should head to the Discovery Zone in Congress Square. With exhibitors such as DronePixel by Ehang, Convergent Design, StreamIt, Imago, and PlaceOS, among others, the Discovery Zone will host everyone from pioneering startups to established corporations. Congress Square will also feature pavilions organized by the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia, hosting local and regional exhibitors.
The Retail Experience/Digital Signage Avenue will debut in Hall 6 at ISE 2022. This multi-application space will bring together and showcase a selection of the world's leading digital signage and DooH technologies. Visitors will be able to experience cutting-edge digital signage in action and discover how it is being widely used for advertising and information delivery.
Lounges:
Throughout the trade fair, there will be a number of lounges. In Hall 2, ISE will host a dedicated space for social media influencers, where they can interact with exhibitors and create and publish content related to the fair. The facilities will include a podcast studio, a photo booth, meeting areas, and a live Twitter feed.
Also new this year, Women in Live Music (WILM) will host a lounge in Hall 7 as part of an ISE-supported initiative to encourage more women to visit the show and join the audiovisual industry. WILM will be joined by representatives from Women in Lighting. Malle Kaas, founder and CEO of WILM, says: “We hope to encourage more women to come to the show by offering them a safe space where they can hang out and connect with other women. But I also hope that male exhibitors and guests will visit the lounge and learn more about the industry from a woman’s perspective.”.
Awards and Events:
ISE attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about the IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), the largest international event dedicated to industry transformation through disruptive technologies, which will be held from May 10-12 at Fira. The sixth edition of IOTSWC will take place under the theme "Game-changing technologies for industry transformation," and the two events will offer a unique opportunity for visitors to explore the intersection of different sets of disruptive technologies.
Visitors will be able to access the IOTSWC exhibition area at no additional cost, while those registered for any of the ISE conferences will benefit from a 50% discount on the IOTSWC congress program, and vice versa.
The ISE Open Innovation Challenge, organized by ACCIÓ (Catalan Agency for Business Competitiveness) and the Enterprise Europe Network, will take place in the Catalonia Pavilion throughout the trade fair, featuring eight companies seeking new technologies and solution partners to help solve a range of business challenges. The event presents challenges in seven categories: live events; content creation and distribution; residential and smart buildings; hotels and hospitality; digital signage and out-of-home digital media; unified communications and educational technology; and audio.
Technology providers with the potential to help solve these challenges can register to participate in the event and schedule in-person or online meetings with participating companies. On-site corporate challenges will take place between 10:00 and 12:30 and between 13:00 and 15:00 each day of the event.
And, of course, no ISE would be complete without the Stand Design Awards. Managed exclusively by EXHIBITOR magazine, an award-winning print and online publication showcasing best practices in trade show marketing, the awards recognize ISE exhibitors and their stand design efforts. All stands at ISE are automatically entered into the free competition and judged on-site during ISE 2022 by world-renowned designers and marketers. Winners will be announced at the Stand Design Awards ceremony, which will take place on Thursday, May 12, at 4:30 p.m. on the Live Events Stage in Hall 7.
