He S8705A RF/RRM and DVT Compliance Toolkit Keysight is part of its group of 4G and 5G network emulation solutionswhich supports a certification program managed by the PTCRB, an organization comprised of North American mobile operators. The new test cases make it easier for chipset and device manufacturers to verify that new 5G radio (NR) designs meet the latest 3GPP Release 15 specifications in terms of radio frequency (RF) performance.

“This PTCRB test case validation is essential for the global 5G device ecosystem, which needs to support high downlink data rates using widely available sub-6GHz frequency bands,” said Muthu Kumaran, general manager of Keysight’s Device Validation Solutions business. “High data rates are required across a wide range of 5G smartphone use cases, including video on demand, conferencing, and gaming.”

Mobile operators are deploying 5G NR in standalone (SA) mode to offer faster connection times and speeds, and the flexibility to create network slices. Keysight is the first to receive PTCRB approval for test cases covering the verification of 5G designs in SA mode with AC support, leveraging three downlink (DL) carriers in the sub-6GHz (FR1) bands.

Keysight received approval at the PTCRB Validation Group (PVG) meeting, held from February 15-17, 2022. At the meeting, Keysight also received PTCRB approval for test cases that accelerate device validation, such as test scenarios for two-angle-of-arrival (2AoA) radio resource management performance, as well as RF demodulation performance validation for 5G millimeter-wave (mmWave) devices. In August 2021, Keysight’s Design Validation Test (DVT) and RF/RRM compliance toolkit was used to obtain the industry’s first PTCRB-validated RRM test cases specified for validating 5G NR devices in 2AoA test scenarios.
