“The EIT Digital ecosystem is very well positioned to contribute to the European Digital Decade,” said EIT Digital CEO Willem Jonker. “That’s why I invite startups and entrepreneurs in Spain to join us in building European digital solutions with global impact. We offer business education programs that bring digital talent and skills to Europe, and ultimately, we want them to join us in building a Strong Digital Europe.”.

Financial, training and strategic advice and support

The EIT Digital 2022 work program is guided by the EIT Digital Strategic Innovation Agenda 2020-2022, which identifies five strategic areas for the organization: Digital Technology, Digital Industry, Digital Cities, Digital Wellbeing, and Digital Finance. These are the sectors the initiative aims to support through advisory, financial, training, and strategic support. Selected startups and entrepreneurs will gain access to the services of the EIT Digital Innovation Factory and the EIT Digital Entrepreneurial Academy.

The EIT Digital Innovation Factory supports pan-European teams from educational institutions, research organizations, or companies. With this support, selected projects will be integrated into the EIT Digital European ecosystem and will receive co-investment funding to launch or scale their digital technology-based company and products.

The EIT Digital Entrepreneurial Academy provides support for the implementation of educational programs and courses with components focused on business development. Candidates can submit proposals for the Master School, Professional School, and Summer School.

Proposals can be submitted from April 6 to May 12, 2021. The selection process will be finalized by the end of June 2021. Activities are expected to begin on January 1, 2022.

In Spain, EIT Digital has supported initiatives such as VIPO, a startup that combines computer vision and artificial intelligence to help fashion companies personalize the user experience, allowing customers to virtually try on clothes without even touching them via a screen. It has also launched initiatives such as the first pilot test of PeasyPay, a biometric payment solution using facial or palm recognition, currently implemented in Guadalajara.
