The Altamira Project will consist of 12 adjacent 40 MW data center modules, supported by 75,000 square meters of photovoltaic panels to supply renewable energy to the campus. The project will be developed in a modular and phased manner, adapting to the growth and development of end customers to facilitate implementation and flexibly meet their needs.
During the construction phase, more than 1,500 direct jobs will be created. The operational phase will generate more than 1,450 jobs, of which 350 will be direct and 1,100 indirect. The Altamira project will be declared a Strategic Business Project by the Government of Cantabria due to its significant economic investment and creation of quality jobs, its commitment to sustainability and the reduction of CO2 emissions , and its goal of transforming the selected land into a leading European technological infrastructure.
XDC Properties, a subsidiary of Stoneshield Capital, has announced a new project with the Government of Cantabria, known as the 'Altamira Project'. The initiative involves the development of a technology campus that will house a large-capacity, 500 MW data center. This represents a €3.6 billion investment in the region, the largest ever received, and Quark is participating in its design and development. The project will boost the economic, technological, and social development of Cantabria. Development is estimated to begin in the first quarter of 2025, with operations commencing in 2032.
