Steria wins a €44 million contract with the Norwegian "DGT"
Norway's Road Administration has chosen Steria to evolve Autosys, its IT system for vehicle registration and driving licenses, in a project valued at 44 million euros.
This registry contains data on vehicles and driver's licenses, as well as information on fees and penalty points. The system has 20,000 users, primarily from the police, the Norwegian Customs Department, and even driving schools, insurance companies, and car dealerships, and records approximately 150 million searches annually.
The contract with Steria includes system development and subsequent management, and will make the new Autosys system one of the largest and most complex ICT solutions in the Norwegian public sector.
The new project entrusted to Steria aims to modernize the vehicle and driver's license registration system in Norway with a greater customer focus and to streamline processes with a more uniform technological solution. The current system dates back to the 1980s and no longer meets the requirements of a modern ICT solution in terms of information, functionality, and integration with other internal and external systems.
Jon Harald Holm, Project Manager at the Norwegian Road Administration, stated, "This is a significant milestone as we are now ready to evolve towards the new Autosys. After thorough analysis, we believe Steria is the right partner for this task. We are prepared to execute a project with a budget of €63 million, which will be completed in 2014, thanks to the experience gained from previous projects and by leveraging the developments already implemented."
Ann-Kristin Skarbøvig, Business Development Director at Steria Norway, commented, "This is one of the largest technology contracts in the sector this year, and we are absolutely delighted that the Road Administration has chosen to partner with us. Our extensive experience in large development projects will be a major advantage in the evolution of Autosys, and we also intend to use future-oriented technologies, such as Java and Oracle, to develop a modern, service-oriented solution."
