The robust infrastructure will support the current emergency communications needs of Castilla-La Mancha while laying the groundwork for future expansion. The transition from the old TETRA system, provided by a different vendor, was recently completed quickly and smoothly, allowing users of public safety services across Castilla-La Mancha's 80,000 km² to immediately benefit from a robust and feature-rich network. This new system incorporates an efficient, software-based TETRA core to reduce communications costs, as well as enhanced cybersecurity features to protect against growing threats. DIMETRA X Core has been built to deliver excellent long-term emergency communications performance that will also meet the needs of the coming years.
“When we started looking for a system to replace the regional radio communications network, we had two requirements in mind: to get the latest and greatest, and to find a reliable technology partner who could provide the appropriate support and technology,” said Wenceslao Sanchez, CEO of Telecom CLM. With Motorola Solutions, “we have also obtained two additional benefits – leveraging Motorola Solutions’ expertise in emergency communications and the ability to grow as an operator – which represents a significant advantage from an economic standpoint.”

Expanding the network over any other network:
CLM’s new system in Castilla-La Mancha includes Motorola Solutions’ WAVE Work Group Communications, an interoperability solution that extends push-to-talk communications to a wide range of platforms, including radio, broadband networks, computers, smartphones, and other devices. WAVE will function as an interface to the main TETRA infrastructure, allowing users on different networks to connect seamlessly via voice communication and other applications. “We are proud to see how Telecom CLM recognizes our expertise as a comprehensive provider and intelligently leverages it to meet its emergency communications needs,” stated Phil Jefferson, Vice President of Motorola Solutions for Western Europe and North West Africa. “Our close collaboration has ensured a rapid and efficient deployment of the new system, allowing the region to seamlessly enter a new era of intelligent communications for public safety.” Looking ahead to the future expansion of the regional network, Telecom CLM will leverage interoperability to connect thousands of additional emergency communications users. These include local police services, ambulances, fire departments, forest rangers, factories, refineries, and other clients.
