This project is supported by more than 40 operators and equipment manufacturers and was approved at the 3GPP RAN #67 meeting on March 12, 2015.
LTE networks are under increasing pressure due to the rapid growth of the subscriber base. The current heterogeneous LTE network architecture leads to overlapping coverage of multiple macro and micro cells, and the existing cell re-election mechanism cannot solve the problem of how to evenly distribute the different cells across these UEs. To address this network challenge, ZTE has proposed this MCLD research project.
