The objective of these TECHNICAL COURSES is to introduce the safe work standards for splicing and connecting optical fibers, the different types of optical fibers and the verification measures for them and other types of connections, teach how to perform optical fiber terminations with connectors and with splices on pre-connectorized pigtails and on termination trays, show the basic concepts of light and the basic principles of optical transmission and, introduce the operation of the power meter and OTDR.
Using a methodology that combines theoretical and practical training, practical exercises in connectorization, fiber fusion, splicing, and measurements will be carried out.
The first module will cover basic concepts, a description of optical fiber components, types of single-mode and multimode fibers, dispersion-shifted fibers, and optical fiber connection systems. It will then continue with the use of optical fiber cabling, splicing, passive optical components, and connectors.
The second part will introduce FTTH technology and PON network measurements.
Finally, practical exercises will be conducted on connectorization, splicing, FTTH, and OTDR measurements.
