This security is achieved by authorizing communication between the host PC and the STU-541. Any USB connection of a device poses a small risk of attack if the USB cable is replaced with one containing active circuitry. This could facilitate data interception and subsequent fraud. The STU-541 eliminates this possibility by fully authenticating communication between the signature tablet and the host PC before each session.
Authentication between the STU-541 and the host PC uses certificates and key exchanges. Each STU-541 unit includes a factory-installed certificate from a Certificate Authority (CA).
In addition to this excellent level of security, the STU-541 signature tablet also offers many of the advantages that customers of the STU-540, available on the market, know and appreciate. Its 5-inch, high-resolution color LCD screen provides a clear and easy-to-read display of signatures or advertising images. The tempered glass cover is extremely durable and offers a natural, paper-like feel, reducing light reflection. Using the pen is very comfortable and easy thanks to the integrated pen compartment with its vertical pen holder. Its robustness is further enhanced by the protected cable connection, secured by a hinged door. This extends the cable's lifespan and prevents accidental disconnections.
The STU-541 includes Wacom Ink Layer Language (WILL) technology to display the representation of handwritten strokes on the screen with the greatest clarity and accuracy.
For developers who want to integrate technical support for the STU-541 signature tablet into their applications, several software development kits (SDKs) are available. The SDK also allows companies to use certificates from their chosen CA.
Wacom's eSignature solutions are used in a wide variety of applications where a high level of security in digital workflows is essential, such as point of sale, electronic payment, electronic passport, insurance, banking, and hotel check-in.
