In addition, with Aternity Mobile, IT can now monitor the performance of company-owned Apple iOS and Android mobile devices to proactively identify digital experience issues and take targeted actions to improve the productivity of frontline employees. The company also launched the next generation of Riverbed IQ 2.0, an AIOps service that reduces alert fatigue and enables IT to identify and resolve issues more quickly by using AI-powered correlation and automation of Riverbed and third-party data.
Today’s IT teams face the daunting task of delivering a seamless digital experience while managing complex computing environments and vast amounts of data and alerts without sufficient context or actionable insights. This is further compounded by network blind spots and a shortage of skilled computing resources. This presents a unique challenge that requires the ability to collect and analyze all this data and leverage AI and automation to meet the needs of modern IT operations.
Riverbed's AI-powered platform collects data across the entire technology stack to ensure accurate AI outcomes, ultimately reducing IT troubleshooting time and costs and delivering better digital experiences to end users.

“Customers face the challenge of improving the digital experience, simplifying their management environment, and deploying AI that works and scales,” said Dave Donatelli, CEO of Riverbed. “To address this, Riverbed has invested in our core competencies of data collection and AI, and today we’re launching the most advanced AI-powered observability platform to optimize digital experiences, along with solutions that provide new levels of visibility into network blind spots and company-owned mobile devices. This is Riverbed’s biggest product launch in years, and all of these solutions are available now. Good AI starts with good data, and our visibility platform and solutions provide IT with true-to-life, high-fidelity data that is the most comprehensive in the industry, along with an AIOps engine that uses AI automation to resolve issues faster, often without human intervention. At its core, Riverbed is focused on helping organizations improve their users’ digital experiences by using AI automation to prevent, identify, and resolve IT problems.”

Riverbed Platform: AI-powered observability capabilities to optimize digital experiences

The new Riverbed Platform is open, simple, and intelligent, enabling IT organizations to collect, analyze, automate, and report on data to deliver optimized digital experiences. The Riverbed Platform gathers high-fidelity data across networks, IT infrastructure, applications, user experience, endpoints, and the cloud. As an open platform, it launches with approximately 35 pre-configured application and software integrations. The Riverbed Platform applies data, including third-party data, to an AIOps engine for analysis and correlation, where root cause identification is determined and automated solutions are implemented. Reports are generated through Riverbed dashboards or by integrating with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow. The Riverbed Platform includes a number of underlying technologies, including:

- The new Riverbed Unified Agent, which streamlines the deployment and management of visibility solutions with a single agent. The Unified Agent allows IT departments to add SaaS visibility modules, such as Aternity for monitoring the end-user experience and NPM+ for monitoring the network and cloud, to collect more data without adding additional agents. The Riverbed Unified Agent includes a powerful agent management tool.
- Riverbed Data Store, which consumes, analyzes, and reports on petabytes of data. Data Store connects an organization's data sources into a powerful data repository that provides businesses with the right data at the right time. This patent-pending technology allows customers to benefit from Riverbed's powerful data repository, making AI actionable, without requiring a business to build its own, which is extremely difficult.
- Topology Viewer, for generating dynamic maps of connected devices and showing dependencies within dynamic and evolving IT environments, putting data into context.

New visibility and data collection solutions include:
- Riverbed Aternity Mobile is the first-of-its-kind mobile monitoring tool that boosts employee productivity by enabling IT teams to proactively identify digital experience performance issues on company-issued mobile devices and take targeted corrective action. According to Gartner[1], an estimated 155 million new enterprise-owned mobile devices are launched each year, used for mission-critical work by frontline employees across all industries. Aternity Mobile works on Apple iOS and Android across the broadest range of devices, addressing what was previously a significant visibility gap regarding device performance and user experience.
- Riverbed NPM+ is the first in a series of SaaS NPM services, where data collection is performed by the Riverbed Unified Agent at the endpoint. NPM+, an industry-leading approach, overcomes traditional network blind spots created by remote work, public clouds, and encrypted architectures such as Zero Trust environments, extending packet visibility to network locations previously unmonitored. NPM+ is designed to collect decrypted data at every user and server endpoint (including Kubernetes), filling visibility gaps such as encrypted tunnels in Zero Trust architectures.
Riverbed NetProfiler, which provides real-time visibility into network traffic and
application performance, now offers new features for monitoring SD-WAN health and performance, including Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela) and VeloCloud.

Riverbed IQ 2.0 and Aternity Intelligent Service Desk

First introduced in 2022, second-generation Riverbed IQ 2.0 is a SaaS AIOps service that uses AI-powered automation to contextualize and correlate real-world data across the IT environment to quickly prevent, identify, and resolve issues. Riverbed IQ 2.0 replicates and automates IT experts' best practices for gathering additional context, filtering out noise, and prioritizing, narrowing alerts down to only the most impactful ones. Leveraging AIOps techniques such as Riverbed Data Store and Topology Viewer, Riverbed Automation enables IT to automate processes so they can resolve issues faster, often without human intervention.
The new version, Riverbed IQ 2.0, takes advantage of expanded data collection sources, an expanding library of 170 pre-activated Aternity remediations, application integrations, and tools for creating custom remediations. In addition, custom tags and on-demand automation allow IT organizations to immediately launch a fix or schedule it to run at a pre-planned time.
Riverbed IQ 2.0 follows the recent release of Aternity's Intelligent Service Desk, which increases call center and customer service efficiency and availability. This new Aternity feature leverages AI and activates workflows to automate and resolve common issues. Furthermore, Aternity Intelligent Service Desk enables IT departments to understand end-user satisfaction by integrating feedback analytics into all fix workflows, from issue detection to resolution. The result is greater customer and user satisfaction for call centers and help desks.

“Organizations are rushing to implement AI solutions and learning that successful AI outcomes are only possible with high-quality, reliable, and relevant data. The complex IT landscape, characterized by distributed infrastructures and hybrid work arrangements, also demands robust observability to ensure positive digital user experiences,” commented Bob Laliberte, principal analyst at theCUBE Research. “Riverbed’s new AI-powered observability platform optimizes digital experiences by leveraging a unified agent, all of Riverbed’s existing solutions, new network and mobile solutions, and second-generation AI technology with nearly 200 out-of-the-box automated responses. The platform offers an open architecture to support an ecosystem of partners, integrations, and third-party data usage. By leveraging Riverbed’s platform, organizations can reduce the complexity of supporting highly distributed environments to drive operational efficiency, deliver better digital experiences, and enable business growth.”
