It also delivers the same low noise, low maintenance costs, long lifespan, and other beam characteristics as previous models. These characteristics include a vertically polarized output beam (>100:1) with an M2 < 1.1, and total measured noise less than 0.02% over a wide frequency range (10 MHz to 100 MHz). Furthermore, it is guaranteed for 2 years or 10,000 hours.
Coherent's Verdi G lasers utilize OPSL (Optically Pumped Semiconductor Laser) technology, developed entirely by Coherent Inc., which is characterized by the ability to easily and directly scale power and wavelength. In addition, OPSL technology does not suffer from thermal lensing effects, unlike models from other manufacturers that are based on older technology such as diode-pumped solid-state lasers. This feature of not having a thermal lens allows the Verdi G20's output power to be varied from 500 mW to 20 W without changing any of the output beam parameters. This is very useful for both OEM and end users, as it allows them, for example, to perform alignment tasks at low power. The complete absence of "green noise" in OPSL technology gives the Verdi G a very low-noise output beam, making it an ideal candidate for demanding applications such as pumping phase-stabilized (PES) systems.
The new Verdi G20 is suitable for pumping Titanium:Sapphire oscillators, whether in continuous wave or pulsed mode at high repetition rates. The high power output of the Verdi G20 allows it to simultaneously pump a Titanium:Sapphire oscillator and a high repetition rate regenerative amplifier, such as the Coherent RegA, or two Titanium:Sapphire oscillators that in turn generate enough power for each of these to pump their respective Tunable Parametric Oscillators (OPO).
