wifi-solutions-rasperry-piThe new modules, built with Wi-Fi and low-power radio technology respectively, offer wireless interface capability for applications that require small-format, low-power, and low-cost solutions; such as mobile devices.

The first module provides high-speed Wi-Fi functionality compatible with the IEEE 802.11b/g/na wireless protocol via a small adapter that connects to the Raspberry Pi's USB port. The adapter enables transmission speeds of up to 150 Mbps, which is three times faster than standard 11g connections, making it an ideal solution for transferring large amounts of data. The smart adapter adjusts the transmission output based on distance and CPU load to achieve a 20% to 50% reduction in power consumption when the wireless function is idle or inactive. It can be configured using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), providing a simple and secure wireless network.

RPi-Wireless-wThe second module also features a wireless USB adapter, offering plug-and-play connectivity with the Raspberry Pi. It utilizes low-power RF transceiver technology, providing a bidirectional link with any device that supports serial communication, such as another Raspberry Pi. Frequency, bandwidth, output power, and data transfer can all be configured to allow multiple devices to communicate freely and without interference. The RF technology employed enables significantly better range (up to 300 meters depending on terrain) and lower power consumption than other wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. The host can send and receive up to 180 bytes of data per packet to other hosts within range, making it particularly useful for sensing and control applications. It includes an integrated SMA antenna. A kit version with a dual transceiver is also available.
