Instead of using a physical key, the user unlocks the lock in the locking solution with an NFC-enabled Android/iOS smartphone via an app or with a digital key (iLOQ K55S Fob). Only those authorized by an administrator have access. The corresponding data for all keys, lock cylinders, and access rights is stored on a cloud-based SaaS platform. The administrator can grant or revoke these rights in real time.

The new locking solution operates without a battery or other stationary power source. This makes the lock particularly attractive for use in the telecommunications industry, as outdoor enclosures and telecommunications cabinets are often located in remote areas. A stationary power source is not always available there, and batteries can discharge over extended periods. The system receives the necessary power for unlocking via NFC from an Android/iOS smartphone. Furthermore, the lock automatically engages as soon as the door is closed.

For the integration of the iLOQ S50 profile cylinder, EMKA has adapted a mechanical rotary handle from the 1317 series. A surrounding support ring protects the rotary button antenna. To ensure the necessary security, EMKA manufactures the handle almost entirely from die-cast zinc. Both the escutcheon and the handle of the energy-independent locking solution are made of this durable material. In addition to protection class IK 10 according to DIN EN 50102 and the IP65 requirement, the system also features RC2 burglar protection according to DIN EN 1630.
