Utilizing cable punch-down technology to create a robust, free-form row of pluggable contacts, this system is fully sealed to IP66 and IP67 specifications. Furthermore, it can be adapted to the requirements of any internal and external data/signal and power application, giving customers greater flexibility in designing their applications.

“Thanks to its row configuration, mating interface, and modular design, the Molex multi-drop sealed connector and cable system can be configured to meet specific customer requirements,” says Desmond Ryan, product manager at Molex Incorporated, adding: “The system is suitable for a wide variety of lighting and power applications, as well as sensor and security systems in environments such as office buildings, road infrastructure, parking lots, public transport, city centers, and other public spaces.”.

The system features multiple connector modules, each consisting of three sections: top and bottom caps with terminations connected to a flat, multi-core cable and a custom plug-in contact with a sealed interface. Locking studs on the top and bottom caps align the cable module during termination, provide consistent compression of the connector onto the cable, and protect against pulling. Connections can be made using stranded cores of 1.50 mm or larger cable diameters.

The simple termination process allows for quick and easy on-site connections and is ideal for applications up to approximately 3.0 A. With a durability of 50 cycles, the plug-in contact can be connected/disconnected during installation and for reuse, repair, and replacement. Featuring weatherproof and radiation-shielded housings, a matte gel coating, and a sealed connection interface, the assembly is completely watertight and suitable for use in all weather conditions.
