Since July 1st, all permanently installed cables in the Old Continent must meet the requirements of this regulation.
Brand-Rex was one of the first companies to introduce CPR-compliant cables in 2016 and has since expanded its Euroclass offerings, including copper and fiber Eca, Dca, Cca and B2ca solutions.
“For any manufacturer or distributor, it is essential that their products pass the rigorous CPR classification process, which requires a significant investment in resources and demonstrates controlled design and production operations,” says Ian Wilkie, Managing Director of Brand-Rex.
“With the local support of partners like Grupo COFITEL, we are leading the way towards a good implementation of this European regulation and, therefore, we can offer the best customer support when facing future projects,” Wilkie adds.
CPR regulates construction materials. Regarding cables, it introduces safety rules concerning fire and hazardous substances and requires that all cables sold in any country of the European Economic Area (EEA) bear the CE marking, with a formal Declaration of Performance verifying compatibility.
By supplying Eca, Dca, Cca and B2ca cables, Grupo COFITEL and Brand-Rex provide customers with more options to meet the environmental requirements of each EU member state.
The highest rated models (Dca, Cca and B2ca) have “less reaction” to flame than cables with a lower rating and, therefore, generate fewer hazardous substances in the event of a fire in a building.
In addition to CE Marking, Brand-Rex offers a Euroclass color code on its copper wiring to facilitate verification of the CPR classification with a visual inspection.
