They enable data transfer speeds of 40 Gbps to 100 Gbps and are the answer to the ever-increasing bandwidth requirements of data centers. Because high operating temperatures are often reached in data centers, the cables are designed for use and storage at temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C. Furthermore, Assmann offers its customers a 15-year warranty on its MPO UTP cable products.
The new UTP cables come standard with a 12-fiber push-on multi-contact (MPO) connector – cables with more than 12 fibers are also available upon request. Signal transmission occurs in parallel, enabling significantly higher bandwidth. The pluggable MPO connector, compliant with IEC61754-7 and TIA/EIA604-5 standards, ensures optimal performance throughout the network despite being only slightly larger than a standard RJ45 connector. This allows for high-density network structures with minimal space requirements.
The cables are available in single-mode (OS2) and multi-mode (OM2, OM3, and OM4) versions, and in various lengths from one meter up to 100 meters as a standard model. Their high manufacturing quality allows for up to 1,000 connection cycles and very low insertion loss. For this reason, the cables achieve optimal transmission power.
For easier identification, the cable and plug cap jackets are color-coded: yellow, orange, blue, and purple, depending on the grade. The fiber diameter is 9/125μm (single-mode) and 50/125μm (multimode). The cables are designed for polarity A. Assmann also offers polarity B and C cables upon request.
Since many data centers still use copper cabling, careful planning is needed for their conversion. This means ensuring that the legacy and new technologies work together seamlessly. This includes planning cable lengths, taking polarities into account throughout the link, and accurately calculating attenuation budgets. Digitus Professional offers a wide range of products for this purpose, including chassis fans and backbone cables.
